I survived

the first few weeks of the term.

Though now it’s not raining, but pouring: A conference paper due in a few weeks. Many (late and close to late) reports to write.

Fall personnel reviews are starting soon. I will get to read lots of cool papers by my colleagues in many different areas. And students on the market this year. So I will be doing some student hand-holding soon.

At least we don’t have a lot of faculty meetings. A blessing, and also a curse, since then you never find out about the big decisions until they are made. I would also say that you don’t get to debate the decisions either. But really, what useful debate really happens at formal meetings anyhow?
